Eagles use no-hitter, five home runs, to take two from Hillsborough

With a no-hitter and five home runs in two games, Polk State swept a doubleheader against Hillsborough Community College tonight in Winter Haven. 

In the opener, Haleigh Corbally (13-3) tossed a complete-game, five-inning no-hitter for a 9-0 victory.  

Stephanie Koutsoumbaris (2-for-2) slammed two solo home runs, scored twice, and drove in three runs. Deanna Littles (2-for-3) added a two-run home run, two runs, and two RBI. Rose Stevens went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. 

In the second game, Kayla Montgomery improved to 16-5 while striking out six in a complete-game performance. She also helped herself at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. 

Maggie Roberts (2-for-3 with a run and an RBI) hit her twelfth home run, tying her with Kenshyra Jackson for the Polk State single-season record.  

Erica Morrissey (1-for-3) doubled and drove in a run, and Deanna Littles (2-for-3) also had a two-base hit.

The Eagles (37-10, 10-2 in the Suncoast Conference) travel to St. Petersburg College April 15 for games at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
