Eagles receive conference and state awards

The Polk State Eagles softball team took home 18 awards tonight at the Florida Community College Activities Association (FCSAA) state tournament banquet in Pensacola, Fla.

Harlee Rimes received Honorable Mention All-Conference Team.

Second Team All-Conference players included Erica Morrissey and Deanna Littles.

First Team All-Conference awards went to Haleigh Corbally, Stephanie Koutsoumbaris, Kayla Montgomery, Maggie Roberts, Kara Seymour, Rose Stevens, and Kaitlyn Warren.

In addition, Montgomery received Conference Pitcher of the Year, Koutsoumbaris was named Conference Player of the Year, and Jeff Ellis received Conference Coach of the Year.

At the statewide level, First Team FCSAA All State included Koutsoumbaris, Montgomery, Roberts, and Stevens.

And finally, the FCSAA State Player of the Year award went to Koutsoumbaris.

"The recognition our players received tonight is a testament to all the hard work they have put in this year and also to the great season we have had as a team, as well as the great seasons they have had individually," said Ellis.
