The 2014 softball season ended with four Polk State players setting season and career hitting records.
Maggie Roberts hit the most home runs in a season (15) and tied for most RBI in a season (73). For her career she finished first in doubles (43), home runs (25), and batting average (.463), and second in hits (173) and RBI (127).
Rose Stevens set the mark for most stolen bases in a season (64) and a career (181). She ended her career first in hits (181) and runs scored (128) and second in batting average (.440).
Stephanie Koutsoumbaris tied for most RBI in a season (73) and ended her career first in RBI (143) and third in hits (170), doubles (41), home runs (19), and batting average (.424).
Kayla Montgomery finished second in home runs in a season (13).
The Eagles also set the school record for most wins in a season, finishing 44-14.
"This year's team was the perfect team," said head coach Jeff Ellis. "The players excelled at all aspects of the game, hitting for average and power with excellent speed, defense, and pitching.
"It was also was a group that truly loved each other like a family and made every day a pleasure to come to the field."
