Erica Morrissey, a sophomore from Mulberry, has signed a letter of intent to play softball next year at Florida Southern College.

"We are very excited for Erica and very proud of her for signing with Florida Southern," said Polk State Head Coach Jeff Ellis.

"This is a great opportunity for her to continue her academic and athletic career. I believe she will have a very successful career there and be an impact player for Coach Chris Belloto."

Morrissey, who plays third base, helped lead the Eagles to the championship game of the 2014 state tournament.

In the 2014 season she hit .380 with eight doubles, a triple, five home runs, and 38 RBI.
