Polk State softball split a doubleheader with Eastern Florida State College today in Melbourne.
The Eagles won the first game 8-5.
Starting pitcher Riley Caylor got the win to improve her record to 3-1. In five and one-third innings she struck out five while walking none. She allowed five runs, two of them earned.
Lauren West finished the game, earning her second save of the season. In one and two-thirds of an inning she gave up one hit and no runs while striking out three.
On offense, Amber Butler led the Eagles, going four-for-five with an RBI and two stolen bases.
Meghan Lindell had three hits and drove in a pair of runs.
Miranda LeFan had two hits in four at-bats.
Eastern Florida won the second game 7-4.
Pitcher Taylor Baker started and worked one-third of an inning.
Danielle Gizoski (2-2) took the loss. She pitched five and two-thirds innings, struck out three, and allowed six runs (three earned).
Butler swiped two more bases in the second game. She also had two hits and an RBI.
Harlee Rimes went one-for-three with an RBI.
The Eagles (8-4) play Seminole State College on Thursday in Winter Haven at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
