Shutout Saturday: Eagles win one of two against Central Florida

The Polk State and Central Florida softball teams took turns shutting each other out today in Ocala. 

The Eagles lost the first game 4-0. 

Miranda LeFan singled and doubled for Polk State's only hits. 

Lauren West (6-5) pitched a complete game, allowing four runs (two unearned) while walking none and striking out four. 

In game two, Polk State came out on top 1-0. 

Harlee Rimes singled and scored the game's only run. 

Erica Morrissey went one-for-three with an RBI. 

Taylor Baker also went one-for-three. 

Baker pitched a complete game, improving her record to 4-1. She yielded six hits and struck out two. 

The Patriots threatened when they loaded the bases with two out in the bottom of the seventh, but Baker got the third out on a ground ball to second base. 

The Eagles (16-12, No. 7 in the FCSAA Softball Coaches' Poll) begin Suncoast Conference play on the road Tuesday against St. Petersburg at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
