Eagles win two at Leadoff Classic

Polk State won twice on the final day of the Leadoff Classic in Clearwater. 

In their first game, the Eagles beat Illinois Central College 8-1. 

Taylor Baker (1-0) pitched a complete game, allowing four hits while striking out five. 

Kelsey Armstrong went 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBI. 

Ally Baert drove in a pair of runs, and Kacie Booth had two hits and scored a run. 

Shailyn Morales (2-for-3) had a double and an RBI, while Amber Butler went 2-for-4 with an RBI. 

In game two, Polk State blanked Wallace State Community College-Hanceville (No. 12 NJCAA) 2-0. 

Danielle Gizoski (2-1) pitched a complete game three-hitter. She allowed one walk and had four strikeouts. 

Meghan Lindell went 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. 

Booth singled and scored a run. 

The Eagles (4-2, No. 8 FCSAA) travel to Daytona Beach on Thursday for a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Daytona State College.
