Eagles take two at Lake-Sumter

Polk State swept a doubleheader against Lake-Sumter State College today in Leesburg. 

The Eagles scored 10 runs in the first inning of game one and cruised to a 13-4 run-rule victory. 

Taylor Baker (3-1) pitched a complete game, striking out five. 

Polk State collected 15 hits. 

Shailyn Morales went 4-for-4 with a double, a home run, and three RBI. 

Meghan Lindell also homered and drove in three runs. 

Heather Novis collected two doubles and two RBI. 

Amber Butler and Sairah Shirah each singled, doubled, and drove in a run. 

In game two, Maddie Scott (2-1) tossed a complete-game two-hitter as the Eagles won 3-1. 

Scott struck out two while allowing one unearned run. 

Morales continued her hot hitting, singling twice in three at-bats. 

Butler went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. 

Ally Baert also doubled. 

Polk State (7-5) faces Miami Dade College on Friday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in Winter Haven.
