Butler’s walkoff triple gives Eagles 3-2 win over Seminole State

Amber Butler's pinch-hit triple in the bottom of the seventh inning scored the winning run as Polk State beat Seminole State College 3-2 in the second game of a doubleheader tonight in Winter Haven. 

Taylor Baker led off the inning with a single. With one out and Elizabeth Gauthier running for Baker, Butler blasted a 3-2 pitch to right field for the game-winning hit. 

The Raiders broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third when they scored a run on a walk, a stolen base, and a double. 

The Eagles answered with a run in the bottom of the inning. Dakoda Bozeman led off with a single and moved to second on Kelsey Armstrong's sacrifice. Bozeman scored on a single by Shailyn Morales and a throwing error. 

Seminole State took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth on a walk, a stolen base, and a single. 

Again the Eagles answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 2-2. Heather Novis doubled with one out and scored on a single by Baker. 

The game then remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh. 

Maddie Scott pitched a complete game for the win. She allowed four hits while walking four and striking out two. 

Baker went 2-for-3 with an RBI. 

Novis doubled and scored a run. 

Morales singled twice in three at-bats. 

Bozeman went 1-for-3 with a run scored. 

Kacie Booth also went 1-for-3. 

In the first game, Seminole State won 13-3 in five innings. 

Novis and Sairah Shirah each went 1-for-2 with an RBI. 

Booth had a single, and Butler had a double and a run scored. 

The Eagles end the regular season 19-30. They begin play in the NJCAA District/FCSAA State Softball Tournament at Historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach on April 29 when they face College of Central Florida at 11 a.m.
