Polk State softball started the 2017 season by winning two of four games yesterday at the Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fla.

The Eagles began the day by beating Broward College 9-2. They followed that victory with a 20-2 win over the University of Puerto Rico.

The Eagles then lost to Daytona State College (7-5) and to South Georgia State College (6-5).

"We scored 39 runs and collected 43 hits in the four games, so it was a good day," said Head Coach Ashley Johnston.

Today's games were cancelled due to rain.

The Eagles (2-2) return to action Friday with a pair of afternoon games against Lake-Sumter State College in Leesburg, Fla.
