Eagles come up a run short against South Florida

Polk State lost a pair of one-run games to South Florida State College last night in Avon Park.    

The Eagles dropped the first game 2-1 and the second game 3-2. 

In game one, Mary-Margaret Maggard drove in Kelsey Armstrong for Polk State's only run. 

Heather Novis went 2-for-2 with a sacrifice. 

Taite Powell took the loss. In six innings she allowed eight hits, walking one and striking out one. She also went 1-for-3 with a double at the plate. 

In the second game, Jada Wesley went 2-for-3 with an RBI. 

Armstrong, Mikayla Barwig, and Andrea Farley each doubled. 

The loss went to Maddie Scott. She gave up seven hits, walking one and striking out three. 

The Eagles (13-31, 2-14) return to action Thursday against State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota in Bradenton at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
