Eagles go 1-1 at Seminole State

Polk State split a doubleheader with Seminole State today in Sanford. 

Trailing 5-1 in the first game, Polk State scored twice in the top of the seventh but could get no closer, losing 5-3. 

Destiny Breeden and Alayna Carranco each went one-for-three with a run. 

Anizya Vargas singled and drove in a run. 

Sarah Grindrod allowed four runs on four hits and four walks.  

In the final three innings, Carranco held the Raiders to one run on one hit. 

After getting only five hits and making three errors in game one, the Eagles played perfect defense and came out swinging in game two. 

They had collected 10 hits off two Seminole State pitchers in a 5-2 victory. 

Grindrod started again and limited the Raiders to four hits, walking two and striking out one.  

Vargas went three-for-four with a stolen base and three runs. 

Carranco singled twice, doubled, score a run, and drove in a run. 

Victoria Gonzalez went two-for-three with a walk. 

Grindrod also helped on the bases, drawing a walk, stealing a base, and scoring a run. 

The Eagles (6-5) travel to Leesburg on Tuesday for games against Lake-Sumter State College at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
