Eagles lose twice at Daytona State

Polk State lost twice to Daytona State yesterday in Daytona Beach. 

In the first game, the Falcons topped the Eagles 10-2. 

Victoria Gonzalez tripled, walked, and scored a run. 

Destiny Breeden went 2-for-2 with a stolen base.

Krista Hoyt doubled and scored a run.

Anizya Vargas had a single and an RBI.

Lauren Estrada and Destinee Jackson each singled.

Megan Wilder allowed seven runs (one unearned) on eight hits, walking none and striking out one.

Sarah Grindrod worked the last inning and was charged with three runs (one unearned) on a walk and two hits. 

The Eagles held the Falcons to four runs in the second game but lost 4-1 after Daytona State broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. 

Breeden went 2-for-3 with a double.

Jackson had a triple and an RBI.

Victoria Perry singled and scored Polk State's lone run. 

Estrade, Hoyt, Vargas, and Wilder each singled.

Grindrod pitched four innings and yielded four runs (one unearned) on five hits and a walk. 

Wilder worked two no-hit innings, walking one and striking out one.

The Eagles (12-13) return to action Friday with games at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at ASA College in Miami.
