Eagles go 0-2 to start conference play

 Polk State started Suncoast Conference play with a pair of losses to South Florida State College tonight at the Diamondplex in Winter Haven. 

In the first game, the Eagles had eight hits but failed to score, leaving nine runners on base and losing 4-0. 

Anizya Vargas went 3-for-4. 

Destinee Jackson doubled and walked. 

Victoria Perry had a single and a walk. 

Lauren Estrada, Destiny Breeden, and Diamond Simmons each singled. 

Megan Wilder allowed four runs (two unearned) on three hits and two walks. 

Alayna Carranco held the Panthers scoreless for 3.2 innings. 

South Florida took the second game 12-1 in five innings, holding the Eagles to three hits. 

Estrada went 2-for-3, and Perry walked, singled, and drove in a run.  

The Panthers collected eight hits of Sarah Grindrod, Wilder, and Carranco. Five South Florida runs were unearned. 

The Eagles (14-17 0-2) hit the road Thursday for games at St. Petersburg College (18-13, 0-2) at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
