Polk State split a pair of Suncoast Conference games with South Florida State College tonight in Avon Park.
In the first game, the Panthers scored a run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to win 4-3.
After the Eagles took a 2-0 lead with solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings, South Florida tied it with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Polk State scored a run in the top of the sixth, but the Panthers tied it again with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Destiny Breeden went 2-for-2 with a double, a sacrifice, a stolen base, and a run.
Anizya Vargas singled and drove in a run.
Carranco pitched a complete game, allowing four hits, walking none, and striking out one.
The second game also ended 4-3, but with Polk State getting the win. Trailing 3-1 after six innings, the Eagles rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh.
Starting pitcher Megan Wilder was charged with three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks in 3.2 innings.
Carranco shut out the Panthers the rest of the way, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out two.
Victoria Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a double and a run.
Vargas singled, doubled, and scored a run.

Perry doubled, scored a run, and drove in two runs.

The Eagles (18-23, 4-8) return to action Thursday against St. Petersburg (23-17-1, 5-6-1, No. 10 FCSAA) at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Diamondplex in Winter Haven.
