Eagles drop Final Home Contest of the Season to Brevard, 1-0

AUBURNDALE - The Polk State women's soccer team lost 1-0 to Brevard Community College Wednesday at the Lake Myrtle Soccer Complex in the final home game for the team's sophomores.

Samantha Layer's goal in the 20th minute lifted Brevard past Polk. The goal was the third of the season for Samantha.

Freshman goalkeeper Catlyn Currie (Lakeland, FL) registered eight saves in a losing effort for Polk.

It was a memorable night for the Eagles eight sophomores, Jordan Meche (Lakeland, FL), Gloria Gomez (Orlando, FL), Deleina Archer (Tampa, FL), Peggy Robles (Serrento, FL), Erica Resendez (Lake Placid, FL), Danielle Reeves (Leesburg, FL) and Megan Howard (Orlando, FL). Regardless of the outcome, it was a bittersweet evening playing in their final game of the season.

The Eagles conclude the season with a 6-6-3 overall record.
