Eagles come up a goal short against No. 7 Darton State

Down 2-0 at the half, Polk State cut the deficit to 2-1 before falling to No. 7 Darton State College tonight at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale.

Elyse Fontecchio scored for the Eagles at 43:15. They had several opportunities, taking 15 shots on goal during the game.
 

"The team did great tonight," said Head Coach Steve Linamen. "They responded well and did exactly what we worked on all week in practice. We had several opportunities to score, so I think they did a great job."

For the game, Polk State had eight corner kicks, 15 goalkeeper saves, and seven fouls. Darton State took 11 shots, and had four corner kicks, 10 goalkeeper saves, five fouls.
 
The Eagles (0-1-1) take on Spring Hall College Saturday at 9 a.m at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex.
