The Polk State soccer team got its first win of the season today, beating Broward College 3-1 in Davie, Fla.

The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half on goals by Elyse Fontecchio (assist by Hannah Davis), Davis (assist by Fontecchio), and Kelsey Lewis (assist by Fontecchio).

Broward got on the board with a goal in the second half.

While pleased with the victory, Head Coach Steve Linamen said, "We got too comfortable after scoring three unanswered goals. We did enough to be successful, but between the weather, turf field, and lightning delay we were not at our best."

For the game, the Eagles took nine shots and had seven saves. Broward recorded eight shots and six saves.

The Eagles (1-2-2) travel to Mississippi next week for games against Pearl River Community College (Sept. 25) and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (Sept. 27).
