Polk State's soccer team earned its second win of the season today, beating Pearl River Community College 1-0 in Poplarville, Miss.

Elyse Fontecchio scored the game-winning goal in the third minute of the first overtime period.

"We played well today with plenty of possession, controlling the midfield," said Eagles Head Coach Steve Linamen. "Pearl River challenged our backline by playing direct and using their speed up top, but our defensive line did a good job adjusting."

For the game the Eagles took 15 shots, and goalkeeper Kara Houston made eight saves. Pear River had eight shots and eight goalkeeper saves.

Pearl River's only previous loss was to No. 9 Jones County Junior College.

The Eagles (2-2-2) play Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Saturday in Perkinston, Miss.
