The Polk State Eagles posted their second straight shutout today, beating Broward College 4-0 at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale.

Elyse Fontecchio put the Eagles on the board with a goal on a penalty kick at the 19th minute of the first half.

In the second half, Cristina Gutierrez scored at the eighth minute.

Eleven minutes later, Alexis Arroyo scored Polk State's third goal.

Hannah Davis ended the scoring for the Eagles with a goal at the 41st minute.

Goalkeeper Sarah McKinney earned her second consecutive shutout.

Head Coach Steve Linamen liked the improved play of the Eagles today.

"We definitely played a little bet better than we did the last couple of games," he said. "We had a little bit more confidence on the ball. The pace could have been a little bit higher, but we had better rhythm and better connections than our last couple of games."

The Eagles took 21 shots and had 14 saves. Broward attempted 14 shots and made 10 saves.

The Eagles (5-3-2) play Webber University in the annual Pink Game on Tuesday at 3 p.m. on the Polk State Lakeland campus.
