Polk State College's Kellee Brown has received the Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence from the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Brown, a sophomore soccer player from Plant City, qualified for the award because she earned a 4.0 grade point average during the 2014-15 academic year.

Brown anchored the defensive line,  starting and playing every minute of each game this year.

"Kellee did a fantastic job for us," said Head Coach Steve Linamen. "Her athleticism and vision kept us competitive and allowed us to tally five shutout games.

"While she had several offers to continue her athletic career, she has decided to attend USF and focus on academics."
