Eagles soccer ready to soar into season

Polk State soccer has added 11 new players as it prepares for the upcoming season. 

The new student-athletes include a sophomore and 10 freshmen. One hails from Australia, while the others come from various locations in Florida, including Winter Haven. 

The new players include: 

  • Brianna Case, center back, Lake Mary, Fla.
  • Hannah Dearing, defender, Viera, Fla.
  • Jewell Gentry-Mickleson, forward, Orlando, Fla.
  • Julia Lips, outside back, Boynton Beach, Fla.
  • Lily O'Brien, midfielder, Melbourne, Australia
  • Madison Politis, forward/midfielder, Ormond Beach, Fla.
  • Rhiannon Pugh, midfielder, Winter Haven, Fla.
  • Malina Savill, goalkeeper, Tavares, Fla.
  • Kyah van Deutekon, center midfielder, Palm Harbor, Fla.
  • Skylar Wohlfiel, sophomore, midfielder/forward, Hudson, Fla.
  • Isabell Wolken, midfielder, Port St. Lucie, Fla. 

"We're excited for the level of talent and creativity this class of recruits will bring to our program to join the already impressive foundation we have," said Head Coach Steve Linamen. 

Returning to the Eagles this year are sophomores Kaitlyn Dickie, Alexa Gernand, Jordan Gines, Kathryn Huapaya, Laura Knott, Maddy Miller, and Brandi Priebe

The Eagles start their season against St. Louis Community College on Sept. 3 on the Polk State Lakeland campus.
