Madison Politis provided all the offense the Eagles needed as Polk State soccer opened the regular season with a 2-0 win over Webber International University in Lakeland.
After a scoreless first half, which was delayed 30 minutes by lightning in the area, Politis scored in the 26thminute of the second half. Two minutes later she put another ball in the net.
"It feels good to win the first game," said Head Coach Steve Linamen.
"We're starting to finally put some of our offensive tactics together. We struggled a little in some of our preseason games but we started connecting well tonight.
"We have a lot of speed, so it's a matter of us making our runs and anticipating instead of just waiting for things to happen."
Eagles goalkeeper Hannah Kuster stopped eight shots on goal.
Polk State took 10 shots on goal against Webber.
The Eagles (1-0) return to action Sunday at 10 a.m. against Southwestern Illinois College in Melbourne, Fla.
