Eagles soar to 2-0 road win over SW Illinois

Polk State soccer improved to 2-0 today, defeating Southwestern Illinois College 2-0 in Melbourne, Fla. 

Madison Politis got the Eagles on the scoreboard with a goal in the 79thminute with an assist from Xiomara Lewis-Ruggiano.  

In the 39thminute, Samantha Gutierrez scored on an assist from Rhiannon Pugh

"We enjoyed a good result today," said Head Coach Steve Linamen. 

"We are continuing to build on each game. We struggled to finish, taking 27 shots today, but we are creating opportunities." 

Goalkeeper Hannah Kuster made three saves for the Eagles.  

The Eagles travel to South Carolina this weekend for games Saturday against Columbia International University in Columbia and Monday versus Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg.
