Eagles Drop Season Home Opener

WINTER HAVEN - Polk State College freshman Stephanie Harris (Miami, Fl.) provided some bright spots for the Eagles, but Florida College's Jenny Moorer led the Falcons to a 3-1(25-23, 25-13, 27-25, 25-20) win Thursday night at the Winter Haven Health Center.

The Eagles have won two of its last three games and is now 2-1 on the season. Florida College is 5-1.

Harris had five blocks and blasted 11 kills setting the pace for the Eagles.

Freshman outside hitter DiannMarie Rivera-Romero (San Juan, Puerto Rico) was efficient as well, with 21 kills.

Sophomore setter Chloe Boehm (Arcadia, Fl.) dished out 25 assists to aid Polk, while freshman libero Ileanuska Maldonado (Puerto Rico) provided 18 digs.

The Eagles were a little weary in this game; this was their third game in three days. Prior to this match they played two tough road games at Lake Sumter and at College of Central Florida.

The Eagles return to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 6, when they head to Temple Terrace, FL to face Florida College at 7 p.m.
