College of Central Florida Downs Polk, 3-1

BRADENTON - Polk's DiannMarie Rivera-Romero (San Juan, Puerto Rico) blasted 13 kills, but shaky play helped 20th ranked College of Central Florida rally past the Eagles, 3-1 (16-25, 22-25, 27-25, 13-25) Friday night at Hal Chasey Gymnasium at the State College of Florida Tournament.

Polk has won four of its last five games and is now 5-2 this season. College of Central Florida improved to 18-3 on the season.

Romero also had four digs for the Eagles. Also for Polk, Rachel Aguilar (Caracas, Venezuela) had 32 assists and eight digs, while Yaritza Santiago (Puerto Rico) dug 12 balls and provided six kills.

The Eagles also received solid play from Ileanuska Maldonado (Puerto Rico), who provided five digs and Kahoriz Feliz Florian (Dominican Republic), who added 14 kills.

The Eagles return to action at the State College of Florida Tournament this afternoon, when they meet 8th ranked Iowa Western at 3 p.m.
