Hot-Hitting Iowa Western Halts Polk, 3-0

BRADENTON - Freshman outside hitter DiannMarie Rivera-Romero (San Juan, Puerto Rico) led the way for the Eagles with seven kills and 14 digs, but 8th ranked Iowa Western slipped past Polk, 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-21), Friday at the State College of Florida Tournament at Hal Chasey Gymnasium. 

Polk is now 0-2 in tournament action after the loss.

Despite the loss, there were some bright spots for the Eagles. Rachel Aguilar (Caracas, Venezuelai) and Chloe Boehm (Arcadia, Fl.) combined for 39 assists.

Ileanuska Maldonado (Puerto Rico) had 11 digs, while classmate Kahoriz Feliz Florian (Dominican Republic) chipped in with 11 kills.

Polk returns to the court tomorrow, Sept. 23, when it meets State College of Florida at 10 a.m.
