Eagles Win in Nail-Biter

TEMPLE TERRACE - Polk's women's volleyball team earned a five-set victory over Florida College in its second meeting within the last six days. The Eagles improved to 3-0 on the road and 3-1 overall, while the Falcons slipped to 6-2. The scores of the match were 25-23, 18-25, 11-25, 29-27 and 15-12.

Three Eagles recorded double figures in kills, as freshman DiannMarie Rivera-Romero (San Juan, Puerto Rico) tallied a match-high 16 and classmate Yaritza Santiago (Puerto Rico) chipped in with 10.

In a game that went back and forth, the Eagles rallied late to pull out with the victory.

This was a meaningful game for the Eagles, as six days prior the Falcons defeated Polk on their home floor.

The Eagles open up their Suncoast Conference slate on Tuesday, Sept. 13, when State College of Florida comes rolling into town. Game time in Winter Haven is set for 7 p.m.
