Eagles Beat St. Petersburg in First Day of State Tournament

JACKSONVILLE - The Polk State College volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-17) win over St. Petersburg College in the opening round of the state tournament Friday afternoon.        

Polk won all three meetings with the Titans in the regular season.

The Eagles were led by Kahoriz Feliz Florian (Santo Domingo, DR) 15 kills, eight digs and two blocks. Rachel Aguilar (Caracas, Venezuela) provided 37 assists, while DiannMarie Rivera-Romero (San Juan, Puerto Rico) chipped in with 10 kills.

Polk advances to face Hillsborough College tomorrow at noon. St. Petersburg drops to the losers bracket and will play tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
