Aguilar Shines for Eagles in Day One of Lake-Sumter Tournament

LEESBURG - The Polk State College volleyball team won a pair of matches Friday at the Lake-Sumter Tournament. Polk topped St. John's River 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-11) and then defeated St. Petersburg 3-1 (24-26, 25-9, 25-11, 25-13).

Ileanuska Maldonado (Puerto Rico) led the way for Polk in its win over St. John's River with three aces and 11 digs. Stephanie Harris (Miami, FL) had 10 kills and three blocks, while Rachel Aguilar (Caracas, Venezuela) chipped in with four kills, eight digs, and 14 assists.

In the second contest, Rachel Aguilar (Caracas, Venezuela) provided nine aces, 10 kills, nine digs, and 17 assists. DiannMarie Rivera-Romero (San Juan, Puerto Rico) had 16 kills along with five digs. Stephanie Harris (Miami, FL) added eight kills and three blocks.

The Eagles will play the host school, Lake-Sumter at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning and will also play Clearwater Christian at 4:00 p.m.
