Eagles Get Defensive, Sweep Away Gulf Coast State

WINTER HAVEN - The Polk State College volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-15) win over Gulf Coast State College on Friday night in the Winter Haven Health Center. In doing so, the Eagles have now defeated their last three opponents without losing a set. Polk improved to 11-4 on the season and 4-0 in the Suncoast Conference. Gulf Coast State College dropped to 15-10 overall.

Polk was led by Rachel Aguilar (Caracas, Venezuelai) with four assist, eight digs, and seven aces. DiannMarie Rivera-Romero (San Juan, Puerto Rico) added eight kills and six digs. Yaritza Santiago (Puerto Rico) added seven kills and six digs, and Lizmanelie Harris (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) provided three kills and led the team in three blocks.

Up next for the Eagles will be a road conference match on Tuesday, October 4 versus Hillsborough at 7 p.m.
