Polk State picked up two more wins on the road last week, defeating South Florida State College and Indian River State College during the Indian River Volleyball Tournament.
In the first match, South Florida State College forced Polk to a fourth game for the first time this season (25-19, 25-23, 14-25, 25-16).
Eagle Assistant Coach Chris Williams said sophomore Stephanie Harris (M) was the night's standout, posting 14 kills and three blocks.
"She only had three hitting errors, which is major. Her 14 kills were out of 18 attempts," he said.
Also making strong showings were sophomore Diannemarie Rivera-Romero (OH), with 10 kills and eight digs; freshman Kelly Gallamore (M), with 10 kills; sophomore Ileanushka Maldonado (L/DS), with 11 digs; and sophomore Rachel Aguilar (S), with nine digs and 42 assists.
In the Eagles' second match of the tourney, Polk dispatched host Indian River in four games (21-25, 25-11, 25-9 and 33-25).
The team was carried by Harris' 16 kills and two blocks; freshman Rosemerli Carillo's (OH) 12 kills and two aces; Rivera-Romero's 10 kills and 16 digs; sophomore Grace Vega's (L/DS) 20 digs and four aces; and Aguilar's five digs and 47 assists.
The Eagles are undefeated at 4-0 extending momentum from the 2011 campaign, in which the squad claimed the first conference title in program history.
The team is now in the midst of an 11-day break, before facing State College of Florida on the road on Sept. 11.
