The Polk State College volleyball team continued to roll Saturday, adding two more victories to go 4-0 on the weekend and finish the State College of Florida Tournament as the only undefeated team in Bradenton.
The No. 16 Eagles (10-4) crushed NAIA opponent Ave Maria University 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-17) and rallied from a 2-0 deficit to edge Odessa College of Texas 3-2 (18-25, 16-25, 25-20, 25-22 and 15-11 for their fifth win in a row.
On Friday, the Eagles topped Palm Beach State (3-1) and State College of Florida (3-0).
Rossanna Rosado (Puerto Rico) tied her season-high with 16 digs.
Freshman Yara Morales (Puerto Rico) notched six digs and four aces. Ashley Toth (Edgewater) handed out 41 assists. Freshman Genesis Castillo (Puerto Rico) turned in her best match to date with six kills.
Eagle sophomore Cheye Anne Savage (Hudson) recorded a season-high 15 kills to lead Polk over Odessa College. She also posted four blocks.
Rosado added another 16 digs. Morales posted a season-high 14 digs and added two aces.
Toth tallied a season-best 53 assists. Edgecombe slammed down another 14 kills.
Ana Karine-Cavalcante registered seven kills and three blocks.
Polk (10-4/1-0), which is ranked No. 4 in the state, hosts No. 1 Hillsborough (12-1/2-0) in a Suncoast Conference match Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Winter Haven Health Center.
