Motivated by inspirational movies, the No. 4 Polk State College women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-19) victory Thursday over South Florida State College (4-14/0-5) in a Suncoast Conference match.
The Eagles improved to 3-2 in the conference and 12-6 overall with the win.
"We've been working on our heart and mental toughness by watching successful athletes," said coach German Del Valle. "Every time they seem to care more."
The Eagles played almost flawlessly in the first set.
"The mental toughness and energy was there all the time," Del Valle said. "Those South Florida kids like to compete, but we took care of business."
Polk spread around the statistics.

Freshman Ana Karine-Cavalcante (Brazil) added nine kills and two aces.
