Eagles Close Out Regular Season With Victory

The No. 17 Polk State College women's volleyball team closed out the regular season Tuesday with a win on the road.

The Eagles (22-15) defeated Lake-Sumter State 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-15, 25-14).

Sophomore Ashley Hass (Lyman) returned to the lineup from a foot injury to tally 17 digs, five kills, four blocks and two aces.

Sophomore setter Ashley Toth (Edgewater) passed out 23 assists and two aces.

Sophomore Cheye-Anne Savage (Hudson) posted 11 kills. Sophomore Diannmarie Rivera scored 10 kills and 10 digs. Freshman Rossanna Ramos (Puerto Rico) recorded 13 digs.

Freshman Luaztani Turbi (Dominican Republic) chipped in six kills.

The Eagles take the victory into the NJCAA Region 8 tournament Friday in Jacksonville as they compete in the state tournament for the third consecutive year.

They open the event Friday at 10 a.m. against No. 6 Hillsborough Community College.
