Polk State volleyball adds six players

The Polk State Eagles have six incoming freshmen committed to the volleyball team for the 2014-15 season. 

"Our staff has been working hard to match the six sophomores now with the players coming in," said head coach German Del Valle. "We're not only looking for talent but also kids with character, just like we have now."

The new players are: 

  • Setter Alejandra Robles (CIEM Private School, Carolina, Puerto Rico).   
  • Middle blocker Suheily Colon (Bayamon Military Academy, Bayamon, Puerto Rico)
  • Outside hitter Zoemy Barreto (Colegio Radians, Cayey, Puerto Rico)
  • Middle blocker Laina Blanton (Eustis High School, Eustis, Fla.)
  • Outside hitter Dayanna Barbosa Teixeira (Odilon Behrens High School, Barbosa, Brazil)
  • Setter Elisabeth Piroli da Costa (Santa Marcelina HS, Brazil). 

"We are confident that these players have the talent, character, and drive that will make our goals happen," said Del Valle. 

Polk State begins its volleyball season Aug. 1.
