Eagles volleyball splits pair of matches at Palm Beach

The Polk State volleyball team split a pair of matches today at Palm Beach State College. 

Against Palm Beach State, the Eagles lost the first game and then won three straight before dropping the final game (17-25, 26-28, 25-21, 25-19, 13-15). 

For the Eagles, Rossanna Ramos had 31 digs, earning her a spot in the FCSAA 2014 25 Dig Club, a group of student athletes who have achieved 25 or more digs in a singe match. She also had two aces. 

Dayanna Teixeira had 17 kills and 14 digs. Ana Karine Cavalcante tallied 14 kills and 19 digs. 

Alejandra Robles recorded 57 assists and two aces. Suheily Colon added 26 blocks, nine kills, and two aces. 

In the second match, the Eagles won in three straight against Broward College (26-24, 25-9, 25-17). 

Alejandra Robles had 40 assists and two aces. Rossanna Ramos recorded seven kills and two aces, while Zoemy Barreto tallied nine kills and two aces.

Dayanna Teixeira had 10 kills, and Genesis Castillo had 9 kills. 

The Eagles (2-7) next play at College of Central Florida in Ocala on Sept. 9.
