Eagles soar to second straight win at Polk State Tournament

With about 50 friends and family members cheering them on, the Polk State Eagles beat State College of Florida at Jacksonville (25-22, 15-25, 25-20, 25-18) this afternoon for their second straight win in the Polk State Tournament. 

With cheers of "Let's go Polk!" and "Eagles! Eagles!" ringing in their ears, the Eagles played with confidence after upsetting No. 9 Daytona State Friday night. 

"Playing at home, we have a lot of fans and we appreciate many of the parents making the flight over here to spend time with their daughters," said Head Coach German Del Valle. "The kids are playing for their parents. That fan support is a key. It's amazing." 

For the Eagles, Elisabeth Piroli dished out 32 assists to g with 11 digs, two blocks, and one kill. 

Rossanna Ramos added 19 digs, three assists, two kills, and two aces. 

Zoemy Barreto made 14 kills, 14 digs, and four blocks. 

Shatorreia Edgecombe had eight kills, one block, and one assist. 

Suheily Colon made two kills, two digs, and one block. 

Alejandra Robles had six assists, five digs, and two aces. 

Yara Ramirez made 12 digs, two aces, and one assist. 

Ana Karine Cavalcante tallied eight kills and five digs, while Laina Blanton made seven kills and five blocks. 

The Eagles (7-15, 2-1) go for their third win of the tournament today against Palm Beach State College at 5:30 p.m.
