Eagles win fifth straight match

The Polk State Eagles won their fifth straight match tonight, beating St. Petersburg College 3-1 (25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 25-14) in Suncoast Conference action in Winter Haven.

With the win, the Eagles move into a tie for first place in the conference.
 
"We got away from our game plan when we lost the third game," said Head Coach German Del Valle. "But we made the adjustments we needed to make and came back strong to win the fourth game and the match."

For the Eagles, Elisabeth Piroli dished out 47 assists and had four digs, three kills, and three blocks.

Zoemy Barreto made 18 digs, nine kills, three blocks, and one ace.

Shatorreia Edgecombe had 17 kills, three blocks, and two digs.

Rossanna Ramos made 15 digs and three aces. 

Ana Karine Cavalcante added nine digs, three aces, and a kill.

Laina Blanton made six kills, three blocks, and three digs.

Suheily Colon contributed eight kills, three blocks, and two digs.

Genesis Castillo made 11 kills to go with three blocks.

Alejandra Robles had six assists and two digs.

The Eagles (10-15, 4-1) travel to Avon Park on Oct. 16 to face South Florida State College.
