Eagles fall to Manatees on the road

In Suncoast Conference volleyball action tonight, the Polk State Eagles lost in five games to State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota in Bradenton. 

The Eagles took the first two games (26-24, 25-23), but the Manatees came back to win the next three (19-25, 22-25, 10-15). 

With the defeat, Polk State drops to second in the conference. 

For the Eagles, Shatorreia Edgecombe had 21 kills and three blocks. 

Ana Karine Cavalcante added 17 digs and 10 kills. 

Laina Blanton and Genesis Castillo each made nine blocks. Blanton tallied eight kills while Castillo recorded six. 

Alejandra Robles dished out 33 assists, while Rossanna Ramos had 16 digs, and Suheily Colon made five blocks. 

The Eagles (13-18, 5-2) travel to Tampa on Thursday for a 7 p.m. match against Hillsborough Community College.
