Polk State played the College of Central Florida three times this season, losing each match. In those matches, the Eagles won just one game.

Everything changed today when the Eagles beat the Patriots (18-25, 25-14, 25-23, 25-18) in the third round of the FCSAA State/NJCAA District Volleyball Tournament in Jacksonville.

With the victory, Polk State advances to play Gadsden State at noon on Sunday, with the winner earning a berth in the NJCAA Tournament

"I don't have any words," said Head Coach German Del Valle after the victory. "This is one of the more exciting times I've had in my life.

"I dedicate this game to these players. This is one of the best teams I've ever coached. They work hard and they're good people. We came to the court with the mentality that we were going to win this game."

For the Eagles, Rossanna Ramos had 22 digs, two kills, two aces, and two assists.

Elisabeth Piroli recorded 40 assists, 10 digs, one block, and a kill.
