Eagles stay alive with win over Hill College

Facing elimination in the consolation bracket, Polk State beat Hill College (25-12, 15-20, 14-25, 15-15) to advance in the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball National Championship in Casper, Wyoming.

The Eagles won the first two games before dropping the third. They came back strong to win the fourth game and the match.

"We played well," said Head Coach German Del Valle. "In the third game the other team had a lot of energy.  We didn't have the same level of intensity, and that's what caused us to lose the third game."

Rossanna Ramos led the Eagles with 25 digs, two aces, and two assists.

Elisabeth Piroli recorded 34 assists, five digs, two blocks, and an ace.

Ana Karine Cavalcante made 10 kills, four assists, and an ace.

Shatorreia Edgecombe had 10 kills, three blocks, and one dig.

Laina Blanton contributed eight kills, two blocks, and a dig.

Genesis Castillo made 12 kills, five digs, and two blocks.

Yara Ramirez tallied seven digs and an assist 

Alejandra Robles chipped in five assists, a kill, and an ace.

Zoemy Barreto had three digs and a kill. 

The Eagles play State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota today at 4:30 p.m. Mountain time. The game will be shown live on NJCAA TV.
