Eagles split pair at Tampa tournament

Polk State split a pair of matches today at the Hillsborough Community College Volleyball Kickoff Classic in Tampa. 

Against Indian River State College, who beat Polk State Aug. 22, the Eagles won 3-1 (25-12, 25-22, 15-25, 25-14). 

Yue Wue had 16 kills, 11 digs, and six aces. 

Zoemy Barreto tallied 10 digs, nine kills, and three blocks. 

Keisha Santana made 21 digs and three aces. 

Elisabeth Piroli recorded 31 assists and 13 digs. 

Dayanna Teixeira had 10 kills to go with nine digs. 

In the second match of the day, the Eagles fell to Palm Beach State College in four games (19-25, 25-18, 12-25, 20-25). 

Elisabeth Piroli finished with 32 assists, 11 digs, and two aces. 

Dayanna Teixeira made 13 kills and four aces. 

Yue Wue made 19 digs and had 11 kills. 

Zoemy Barreto contributed six kills and six digs. 

The Eagles (2-2) finish tournament play tomorrow at 11:45 a.m. against Lake-Sumter State College.
