Polk State struggled tonight on the volleyball court, losing 3-1 to the College of Central Florida in Winter Haven.

After dropping the first game 16-25, the Eagles trailed 7-11 in game two. But after a timeout, they made six unanswered points to take a 13-11 lead and win 25-15.

In the third game, Polk State jumped out to a 14-7 lead but failed to hold it as the Patriots prevailed 25-23.

Central Florida won game four 25-19.

"I think Central Florida wanted it more than us," said Head Coach German Del Valle.

"We say we want, it but we have to show it. If we don't show it, then we don't want it.

"We have to take chances. We didn't take chances to swing the ball at the right time. At the end we didn't serve well. You have to play to win, not to lose."

Keisha Santana led the Eagles in digs with 23. She also had three assists and two aces.

Elisabeth Piroli recorded 30 assists, five digs, three blocks, two kills, and an ace.

Yue Wue had team-high 14 kills. She added nine digs, two blocks, and two aces.

Dayanna Teixeira contributed nine kills, eight digs, two blocks, and one assist.

Laina Blanton made seven blocks and five kills.

Zoemy Barreto had four kills and three digs.
