Eagles blank Daytona State to win final match of tournament

The Eagles ended the Polk State Tournament today with a decisive 3-0 win over Daytona State (25-17, 25-22, 25-19). 

Yesterday, the Eagles lost to Central Florida (3-2) before shutting out Miami Dade (3-0). 

"It has been a pretty good weekend for us," said Head Coach German Del Valle. "These kids are really following our system more, and they're learning how to play more. In game two today we were behind and I told them, 'If you control your emotion we can make it happen' and they did. 

"Our team has a lot of togetherness, and when we stay together we make good things happen." 

For the Eagles today, Zoemy Barreto made 10 kills, seven digs, and four aces. 

Yue Wu recorded 20 kills, 16 digs, two blocks, and one assist. 

Alejandra Robles contributed 21 assists along with five digs and two aces. 

Dayanna Teixeira had 10 kills, three assists, one block and one dig. 

Elisabeth Piroli made 13 assists, three digs, two kills, and one block. 

Keisha Santana tallied 17 digs, an ace, and an assist. 

Laina Blanton had three kills, a block, and a dig. 

Nicole Boots finished with four digs, one ace, and an assist. 

The Eagles (12-7, 1-0, No. 3 FCSAA, No. 13 NJCAA) return to action Sept. 29 when they travel to Melbourne to face Eastern Florida.
