No. 6 Polk State's quest for a national championship ended tonight with a 3-1 loss to No. 3 Northwest College in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Division I Volleyball National Championship tournament in Casper, Wyo.

After trailing 15-12, the Eagles rallied to win the first set 25-21.

They had a 24-22 lead in the second set, but Northwest called time out and then came back to win 26-24.

That was the turning point, according to Head Coach German Del Valle.

"After that, we just never put it together. We lost the match in game two after losing that 24-22 lead."

Northwest took the final two sets 25-21 and 25-15.

With the defeat, the Eagles move to the consolation bracket. They play Missouri State-West Plains in the Fifth Place Semifinals tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time.
