Eagles finish No. 6 in national championship tournament

Polk State finished sixth in the NJCAA Division I Volleyball National Championship tournament in Casper, Wyo., today after losing 3-0 (16-25, 18-25, 13-25) to Iowa Western.

"Our players played hard," said Head Coach German Del Valle. "We did our best, but Iowa Western made some phenomenal plays. They just outplayed us. I'm not disappointed."

Yue Wu had 11 kills, eight digs, an ace, and a block,

Zoemy Barreto recorded eight kills, eight digs, and a block.

Elisabeth Piroli had 19 assists, two digs, a kill, and a block.

Dayanna Teixeira finished with 11 digs, six kills, a block, and an assist.

Alejandra Robles had 12 assists, five digs, and a block.

Laina Blanton tallied four kills and a block 

Suheily Colon added four blocks and three kills.

Keisha Santana made six digs and an assist.

Madison Wildey had three digs, and Nicole Boots added one. 

The Eagles (No. 2 FCSAA) end the season with a record of 24-12.
