Polk State volleyball had a busy spring, as the team trained and prepared for the 2016 season, which starts in August.
The Eagles held the inaugural event on the new sand volleyball court Feb. 26, 2016, with a tournament featuring all five Suncoast Conference teams.
Located on the Winter Haven campus, the new court was built with the generosity of The A.D. Morgan Corporation, CEMEX, Best Fence Company, and the City of Winter Haven.

The team also took part in two indoor scrimmages, first at the University of South Florida, where the Eagles played NCAA DI schools for the first time ever.
They beat Bethune-Cookman University 2-1 and were beating USF before an injury forced Phoebe Wu to leave the match.

Polk State also played well at St. Leo University against Florida Southern College, the University of Tampa, and St. Leo, all nationally ranked DII programs.
The team and individual players received accolades at Polk State's annual Athletic Awards Banquet, held April 24. The team was honored for having the highest overall GPA of any team on campus for the past year, and Phoebe Wu received the Female Athlete of the Year award.

To celebrate the end of the spring season, the team spent a day at the beach at Treasure Island. Players and coaches spent the day swimming, kayaking, playing baseball, barbequing, and just enjoying each other in the sun.

"Overall this has been a spring season that will be very hard to forget," said Head Coach German Del Valle. "I can't wait for the fall when we start our new adventure."
