Eagles take two in Texas

Polk State volleyball won twice today, beating Monroe College (3-0) and Blinn College (3-0) at the Blinn College Premier Tournament in Brenham, Texas. 

Polk State defeated Monroe 25-13, 25-15, and 25-13. 

Yue Wu had 17 kills, six digs, three blocks, two assists, and an ace. 

Nicky Pio recorded 26 assists, three kills, three blocks, three digs, and an ace. 

Keisha Santana made nine digs and five assists. 

Dominika Nemcova had six kills, five digs, two assists, and a block. 

Kathya Garcia added eight kills, six digs, and a pair of aces. 

Cristina Castillo tallied five digs and five assists. 

Nicole Boots made three aces and two digs. 

Anilise Fitzi contributed three kills, three blocks, and one dig. 

Alejandra Sanabria added two blocks. 

Aurora Alderman had two digs and an assist. 

Kaylee Gartino made two blocks and a kill. 

Against Blinn, the Eagles won three straight sets by scores of 25-21. 

Pio dished out 38 assists and made two blocks. 

Wu had 17 kills and eight digs. 

Garcia recorded 10 kills, four digs, two aces, and a block. 

Sanabria added two kills, a block, an ace, and a dig. 

Fitzi made 10 kills and five blocks. 

Dominika Nemcova tallied five kills, three digs, and a block. 

Veronika Nemcova had an ace, a dig, and a kill. 

Santana made three assists, two digs, and an ace. 

Boots had two digs, and assist, and a pair of aces. 

The Eagles (8-1, No. 1 FCSAA, No. 3 NJCAA) continue tournament play Saturday against Frank Philips College and Tyler Junior College.
