Polk State volleyball got a big win today, defeating Suncoast Conference rival Hillsborough Community College 3-1 in Tampa.
With the victory – their eighth straight -- the Eagles pulled into a tie with Hillsborough for second place in the conference.
It was the final regular-season conference game for both teams.
The two teams would have a one-game playoff, with the winner advancing to the state tournament – unless first-place St. Petersburg College loses at least one of its two remaining conference games, which could result in a three-team tie for first place.
Today the Eagles won the first two sets 25-22 and 26-24, dropped the third 22-25, and took the fourth and final set 26-24.
Yue Wu made 17 kills, 13 digs, three blocks, two assists, and an ace.
